Yesterday, I presented how I’m automating product creation in WooCommerce to Porto’s local WordPress community.
In this session, I demonstrated how I transform screenshots from a PDF catalogue into published WooCommerce products — dramatically reducing manual data entry and speeding up the entire workflow.
Here’s what we covered:
- Using the WordPress MCP server
@automattic/mcp-wordpress-remote. - Exploring WooCommerce MCP capabilities (documentation and code).
- Building and registering custom MCP capabilities (documentation).
- Writing effective prompts/skills for the Claude agent (documentation).
- The (many!) challenges I faced during development.
- How to stay up to date with AI developments in WordPress and WooCommerce.
The session combined real-world lessons learned with a practical demonstration at the end. Beyond the technical setup, I shared the unexpected hurdles and small breakthroughs that made the system actually work in production.
It was a fantastic discussion with developers and other professionals who are curious about where AI is taking our ecosystem — especially within e-commerce workflows.

A big thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to the conversation. It’s exciting to see how quickly AI is becoming part of our everyday WordPress toolkit.
